GIANT TETRIS

GIANT TETRIS

The campaign was made and implemented for the Goal 99 initiative with the support of the Government agency the Secondary Material Resources Operator. The institution is a non-profit organization that coordinates activities in the field of secondary material resource handling.

The task was to inform the population of Belarus about the available places and possibilities of collection of equipment, to form a culture of delivery of household appliances to special points of reception of electric and electronic equipment.

We decided to bring the importance and simplicity of recycling through a well-known game - "Tetris". The disappearance of the figures in the row has become a symbol of recycling technology and a cheerful non-standard activity demonstrates that getting rid of old appliances is as easy as playing.

The main heroes of the holiday were children having a rest in one of the summer health camps in Belarus. Charismatic animators in the image of Albert Einstein gave a tour of the recycling plant and told about the recycling of waste. He demonstrated how different elements interact with each other and demonstrated fascinating experiments.

The culmination of the event was a game of large-scale Tetris. The figures were TVs, refrigerators and washing machines that were recycled. Children conducted the process: they watched the process of moving on the screen and controlled the volumetric figures with the help of big buttons "right", "left" and "flip". The workers of the polygon reacted to the children's commands and built the technique taking into account the instructions. The figures disappeared when the full game row was filled as in the computer game. At the end of the event the children tested their strength in a selection of games on branded Tetris - presentations for the participants of the event.

The key element of the campaign was a promotional video. The video was shot in the style of Stop Motion and has typical for the game Tetris graphics and eight-bit music.

By distributing the video from the scene and information about the game through the media channels a large number of citizens learned about the campaign and how to get rid of old equipment.
